Jirachi Plushie Tutorial by TanZYinG Jirachi Plushie Tutorial by TanZYinG
Patterns - Part 1 [link] and Part 2 [link]

This tutorial will teach you how to make a plushie of my favourite Pokemon - Jirachi! I have been sitting on this project for a while as I didn't have the discipline to organise all the photos into a tutorial, until now.

The design was done completely by me, and is in its third inception, which I must say is a great improvement over its predecessors. The second one was acceptable but had noticeable deformities. The first one was just ugh.

If you are not familiar with sewing, I suggest taking a look at :iconclearkid:'s Luma plushie tutorial at [link] . It's a excellent and simple plushie to make that will give you a good grasp of the basics before you move on to the slightly more advanced techniques that my tutorial requires. In fact, that was the tutorial that I learned from when I was new myself. Thanks ~clearkid!

I have an idea for the lobes in the head.
Maybe making them like the streamers and then stitching them to the head? I don't know if that's possible

which stitch is best? I use backstitch but still in some areas the thread is seen which makes it look horrible!

Well...from my (almost complete lack of) experience maybe you should try matching the colour of the thread and the material better so it is less noticable? Or use a different material?

I don't know, I don't sew on a regular basis and I just used normal stitches and accepted the end results...

I can only get felt, stores do not sell the others which are better at hiding the thread but thank you, guess it is my only option

Sorry for the late reply. I basically had to look at lots of reference pictures and guess as best as I could. Then I had to go through a few horrible looking prototypes to figure out where the initial design went wrong before I finally got it to look somewhat acceptable.

I'm glad you found it useful :)

Though, i would suggest that you sew on the wish tags and facial features before the back and front are sewn together. Its easier that way IMO

I just used fabric paint for the eyes, and as for the wish tags, I got them on fairly easy enough.

This was done by hand. I've never used a sewing machine before.

I commented on your plushie one about it having no eye and this one says you left it out SO SORRY forgive me X/

No worries. I never thought the eye did much for Jirachi's aesthetics, so to me the extra effort wasn't justified. What I really regret is forgetting the teal triangles under the eyes T_T
